Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (when nuclei in a magnetic field will absorb and re-emit different levels of electromagnetic radiation) was discovered and measure in 1938 by Isidor Rabi. Today, NMR is used in MRI’s, to study the structure of chemical compounds, to analyze samples non-destructively, in acquiring dynamic (changing over time) information, and many others.
