In 1967, the first Saturn V rocket was launched. On December 21, 1968, Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders became the first humans to leave Earth orbit using a Saturn V rocket. Today, the Saturn V is the only rocket to ever launch humans past a low Earth orbit.
